BITSoM MBA: the institution, degree and campus
BITS School of Management (BITSoM) offers a two-year, full-time residential MBA in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The degree is awarded by BITS Pilani. Its campus is on Kalyan–Murbad Road at Village Kamba, Pawshepada, Taluka Kalyan, District Thane, Maharashtra 421301. Use this location when planning a campus visit; “Mumbai” in the school’s name does not mean a central-city campus.
This guide covers BITSoM’s flagship residential MBA. BITS Pilani’s MBA in Business Analytics at Pilani and BITSoM executive certificates are separate programmes, with their own admissions and fees. The awarding institution is BITS Pilani, an Institution of Eminence deemed to be a university; BITSoM is its management school, rather than a separately affiliated PGDM college.
The curriculum combines business foundations, specialisations, live projects and personal development. It can suit applicants seeking a full-time career transition who can commit to residential study. Compare the actual roles recruited, cost and learning format with your alternatives before deciding.

Intake and institutional status
BITSoM’s current FAQ specifies 240 students for the MBA Class of 2029 (2027–29). This is the announced programme intake, not a count of remaining offers. Official intake FAQ, checked 28 September 2026.
BITS Pilani identifies BITSoM within its Mumbai campus. Its UGC recognition page records BITS Pilani’s deemed-to-be-university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act. University recognition and an individual MBA programme’s accreditation are different matters; this guide does not attribute an unverified programme accreditation or university-wide rating to BITSoM.

MBA 2027–29 eligibility and admission process
Applicants must graduate in any discipline from a recognised university before the intake starts. The current FAQ allows students completing their undergraduate degree in summer 2027 to apply. A valid CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE score forms part of the application. Final-year candidates and applicants with work experience are both considered.
- Apply to BITSoM separately: complete the school’s online application; registering for an entrance test does not submit it.
- Build your evidence: provide academic information, test results and truthful examples of work, extracurricular activities, leadership and communication.
- Complete the application: BITSoM says review begins only after test scores are entered. Plan score reporting alongside the application deadline.
- Attend the interview if shortlisted: the published process includes an interview with BITSoM leaders and BITS Pilani alumni.
- Read the decision and offer: track the portal and email; payment dates and conditions follow the offer letter.
Published application dates
| Stage | Published date |
|---|---|
| Round 1 applications | 19 August–15 November 2026 |
| Round 1 CAT score submission | 12 January 2027 |
| Round 2 applications | 16 November 2026–24 January 2027 |
| Final GMAT/GRE score submission date | 31 March 2027 |
| Online Term 0 begins | 21 May 2027 |
| On-campus arrival | 19–20 June 2027 |
Reapplying in the same cycle: BITSoM’s dedicated admissions FAQ says an unsuccessful applicant cannot apply again in a later round of that admissions cycle; a fresh application is possible for the next academic year. The timeline page’s numbered instructions also specify one application per year. Its Round 2 table contains contradictory wording about both rounds, so use the explicit FAQ rule when planning and obtain written clarification from BITSoM before attempting an exception. Calendar and FAQ rechecked 13 October 2026.

Application records and recommendations
BITSoM requires application documents to be uploaded online; its FAQ says hard copies are not needed at the application stage. Prepare academic transcripts or marksheets and your valid test-score record. As a preparation checklist, also keep dates and evidence of employment, projects and activities consistent with what you enter in the form. The application portal controls the exact upload requirements.
A recommendation is optional. If you provide a referee, the school emails that person a submission link; the FAQ requires the recommendation within three days of your application submission. Official application and recommendation FAQs.

BITSoM CAT cutoff: what the school actually says
BITSoM states that there is no minimum test score or sectional cutoff for submitting an application. It assesses applications holistically, while still requiring a standardised test score. This is not an assurance that every score will receive an interview or offer.
A past class’s median CAT percentile is a description of admitted students, not a published selection threshold. Avoid treating an estimated percentile on a comparison website as an official cutoff. Your score, academic record, application evidence and interview should be considered together.
Is there a management quota or direct-admission route?
The official FAQ says there are no quotas and all applicants must follow the regular application process. Campus Mantra can help you organise and compare your options; it cannot replace BITSoM’s selection process or guarantee admission.

BITSoM MBA fees: Class of 2028
As checked on 13 October 2026, BITSoM’s official fee page still publishes ₹28,55,000 for the Class of 2028 (2026–28) and expressly limits the schedule to that class. The page does not give a Class of 2029 (2027–29) fee schedule. Use the figures below only as the preceding cohort’s budgeting reference; obtain the intake-specific written fee schedule with a 2027–29 offer.
| Component | Amount | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | ₹23,85,000 | Two years |
| Admission fee | ₹1,50,000 | One time |
| Accommodation | ₹3,00,000 | Two years |
| Refundable security deposit | ₹20,000 | Subject to adjustment of dues |
| Total stated by BITSoM | ₹28,55,000 | Includes the deposit |
| Application fee | ₹3,000 | Separate from the programme total |
Annual payment split and exclusions
The official schedule totals ₹15,12,500 in Year 1 and ₹13,42,500 in Year 2. Each year includes ₹11,92,500 tuition and ₹1,50,000 accommodation; Year 1 also includes the admission fee and security deposit. The Year 2 payment is due two weeks before Term 4, while the admission-fee deadline follows the offer letter.
Meals are billed separately. A laptop of the specified configuration is required, and books and other learning materials cost extra. Add personal expenses, travel and any financing costs to your own budget. The refundable deposit is still an upfront cash requirement; it is adjusted for dues before repayment after graduation.

Hostel, meals and the residential commitment
BITSoM requires students to stay in the campus-provided residence. Its FAQ describes single-occupancy, furnished rooms with attached bathrooms. Residences have air conditioning and Wi-Fi; the school also lists a doctor on call, paid laundry and security.
For the Class of 2028, accommodation is ₹1,50,000 per year within the published two-year fee schedule. This does not include meals. The official fee page and fees FAQ checked on 13 October 2026 do not state a separate meal tariff. The FAQ explicitly excludes meals and laundry from the programme fee. Request these charges from BITSoM before accepting an offer; ₹3 lakh accommodation is not a hostel-and-food package.
Plan around living near Kalyan for the programme rather than daily travel from central Mumbai. If room accessibility or another specific requirement matters to you, discuss it with the school before accepting an offer. The standard room description does not establish availability of a particular allocation.

Learning spaces and campus facilities
The admissions page describes a 63-acre campus near Kalyan, with academic buildings, a library, gymnasium, sports complex, event hall and dining hall alongside student residences. These are facilities of the wider campus; its stated design capacity should not be confused with BITSoM MBA intake. Official campus description, checked 28 September 2026.
The residential format may suit someone seeking regular access to classmates, group-project spaces and campus activities. When visiting, inspect the actual study spaces, room allocation and commute for internships or employer events that matter to you.

Curriculum, specialisations and internships
The MBA is organised across six terms over two years. The current programme page lists more than 60 courses, over 1,350 contact hours and three live projects. Core areas include strategy, finance, marketing, organisational behaviour, operations and leadership, alongside data, technology and AI applications.
Six specialisation areas
- Leadership and Strategy
- Marketing and Consumer Insights
- E-Commerce and Digital Leadership
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Finance and Investments
- Operations and Supply Chain Management
The FAQ allows students to select up to two specialisations in the final year. The indicative academic calendar places an eight-week summer internship between the two academic years. Confirm your cohort’s detailed calendar rather than treating the indicative months as fixed dates.
When comparing electives, work backwards from a role: a finance applicant should inspect analytical and investing coursework, while a marketing applicant should examine consumer research and commercial decision-making. A specialisation is a study choice; it does not reserve a job or employer for a student.

BITSoM placements: MBA Class of 2025
The official final-placement report covers the 2023–25 MBA batch, with outcomes as of 18 September 2025. These are historical results, not predictions for incoming students. The final-placement reports listed on the careers page at this check run through the Class of 2025; later summer-internship reports are a different dataset.
| Measure | Reported result |
|---|---|
| Average annual CTC | ₹21.00 lakh |
| Median annual CTC | ₹20.52 lakh |
| Highest annual CTC | ₹32.50 lakh |
| Total batch / graduating students | 153 / 152 |
| Students seeking institute placements | 144 |
| Students with placement offers | 138 |
| Students yet to be placed | 6 |
| Students opting out | 8 |
Use the report’s Annexure 1 for placement coverage: 138 of 144 seekers had offers, or approximately 95.8% (our calculation). The report also uses “146 out of the placement process”; this includes the eight opt-outs and should not be presented as 146 institute placements.
What CTC includes
The report measures first-year maximum earning potential, including fixed pay, variable pay, applicable first-year joining bonus and first-year vested stock. This is not monthly take-home pay. The audit notes that gratuity was included where a separate amount was unavailable. Comparing the headline CTC directly with tuition to claim a guaranteed payback period would be misleading.
The remuneration audit is by B2K Analytics, formerly Brickworks Analytics, using documents supplied by BITSoM. The audit letter limits its verification to remuneration; industry and function charts are labelled unaudited. Read the scope alongside the headline “audited report”.

Scholarships and a practical offer comparison
The current official fee page lists merit and need-based scholarships. The scholarship FAQ says all applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships; applicants seeking need-based support must complete the scholarship section of the application. Availability is not an award to every eligible applicant. Build your budget around the written scholarship decision and its conditions, not an assumed reduction in the advertised fees.
Before accepting, put five items on one comparison sheet: the exact intake’s fees and exclusions, residential commitment, curriculum relevant to your target role, placement-report coverage and the offer’s payment/refund terms. Keep a separate allowance for meals and personal costs. This makes differences between offers visible without relying on a ranking or highest salary alone.
For application preparation, choose examples you can explain in detail: a project decision, a measurable work contribution or an extracurricular responsibility. Show what you did and learned. A polished essay cannot substitute for accurate evidence or a conversation you can sustain in an interview.

COMMON QUESTIONS
BITSoM MBA: your questions answered.
Does BITSoM award an MBA or PGDM?
Its two-year residential programme awards an MBA degree from BITS Pilani.
What is the BITSoM MBA fee for 2027–29?
On 13 October 2026, the official fee page still limits ₹28.55 lakh to the Class of 2028 (2026–28), including a refundable deposit. It does not publish the 2027–29 fee schedule. Ask BITSoM for that intake’s written schedule before accepting an offer; the previous cohort’s total is not a new-intake quote.
Is a 90 or 95 CAT percentile an official BITSoM cutoff?
No fixed minimum or sectional cutoff is stated in the official FAQ. Applications are assessed holistically. A historical class statistic is not a guaranteed interview threshold.
Are meals included in hostel fees?
No. The Class of 2028 payment schedule explicitly says meals are billed separately from accommodation.
Is the ₹21 lakh average package a guaranteed salary?
No. It is the average annual CTC reported for the Class of 2025, with a specific reporting population and first-year compensation definition. Individual outcomes differ.
Sources and editorial review
Fees, admission timelines and relevant eligibility, scholarship and repeat-application FAQs were rechecked on 13 October 2026. The current fee page still covers Class of 2028 and does not publish a 2027–29 schedule or meal tariff. The dedicated FAQ specifies one application per cycle. Other programme and placement documents retain their original 25 September 2026 check and stated cohort; this guide keeps the 2027–29 application calendar, Class of 2028 fees and Class of 2025 placements separate.
