Which institution does this guide cover?
The School of Science & Technology is at Tathawade and belongs to Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, a deemed-to-be university whose name includes Pimpri. The engineering teaching campus covered here is Tathawade. It is distinct from the SPPU-affiliated Institute of Technology at Pimpri, DY Patil College of Engineering at Akurdi and DY Patil International University. The awarding university is DPU, not SPPU.

The university’s AICTE Extension of Approval dated 3 April 2026 covers academic year 2026–27 (permanent ID 1-3667580281). Page 2 lists undergraduate CSE intake 120 and AI & Data Science intake 60, matching the Tathawade school’s programme list. This is a university-level approval document, hosted on DPU’s School of Design website; its Pimpri administrative address does not change the school’s Tathawade teaching location. Approval is not the same as NBA accreditation. Source: AICTE EoA 2026–27, pages 1–2 ↗.

Engineering courses and programme details
The capacities below are approved for 2026–27 in the university’s AICTE letter and are also listed on the school’s intake webpage. They are approved annual intake, not seats currently vacant or separate allocations for each CSE specialisation.
| Programme | AICTE-approved intake, 2026–27 |
|---|---|
| B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering | 120 |
| B.Tech Artificial Intelligence & Data Science | 60 |

The 2026–27 admissions notice lists CSE specialisations in AI & Machine Learning, Cyber Security and Data Science, alongside the separate AI & Data Science degree. These are computing options: this page does not advertise Mechanical or Civil Engineering at this school.

Eligibility and admission process
The 2026–27 undergraduate admissions notice requires HSC/equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, at least 50% overall for Open and 45% for reserved categories. It accepts applications involving recognised entrance examinations including JEE and MHT-CET. Applicants can use the university portal’s DPUAIET or Other CET route, complete verification, enter details, upload the applicable examination documents and pay the relevant application charge. The notice distinguishes ₹1,300 for DPUAIET from ₹1,000 for the non-DPUAIET application. Its listed 28 June 2026 test date is historical, not an upcoming appointment. The CSE page uses “grouping” marks while the admissions notice says “overall aggregate”; applicants affected by this difference should obtain written eligibility confirmation. No CAP closing rank from another DY Patil institute applies automatically.
Fees: session, category and inclusions
| Fee component | Amount |
|---|---|
| CSE annual fee displayed with 2026–27 admissions | ₹2,50,000 |
| Eligibility fee: 15% of first-year tuition (calculated) | ₹37,500 |
| First-year tuition plus eligibility fee (calculated subtotal) | ₹2,87,500 |
The CSE programme page states a 3% annual increase. The subtotal excludes application charges, hostel, mess and any other charge not established by this source. It is not a four-year fixed price. The separate AI & Data Science page also displays ₹2,50,000 per year with the same eligibility-fee and annual-increase notes; obtain a programme-specific written schedule for the offered intake.

Hostel and mess
The school provides a hostel information page, but a dated room tariff with occupancy, mess inclusion, deposits and allotment terms was not available in the retrieved text. No price has been borrowed from the DPU medical campus, DYPIU or another DY Patil institution. Request a residence quotation naming the Tathawade location, room type, billing period, meals and refundable deposits before completing your budget.
Cutoffs and how to read them
No verified programme-wise, category-wise historical closing-score dataset for this school has been established for this guide. The minimum Class 12 eligibility is not an entrance cutoff. DPUAIET selection and applications through other recognised entrance examinations must be read against the school’s own offer and admission notice. Do not substitute the MHT-CET closing rank of DIT Pimpri, DYPCOE Akurdi or another Tathawade college.

Curriculum and campus comparison
The published 2026–27 CSE AI/ML course structure spans eight semesters. Early study includes C programming, mathematical foundations, digital design, Python, probability and project-based learning. Later semesters cover data structures, operating systems, databases and networks with specialisation electives. The course document marks some honours papers optional; confirm the honours requirements rather than assuming every award has the same additional credits.

The AI & Data Science programme describes work in machine learning, statistical analysis, big data and IoT. Published facilities include computing laboratories and digital library access. When comparing these closely named options, use the semester syllabus to assess how much study is in general computer science versus the chosen specialisation.
Placement evidence and reporting scope
The school’s statistics page labels its annual tables as internship counts: 44 for 2022–23, 215 for 2023–24 and 62 for 2024–25. Its 2025–26 table is explicitly marked ongoing. These are not verified B.Tech branch-wise counts of graduates placed in full-time jobs.
The headline combines internships and placements and shows a highest PPO offer, but does not establish a completed B.Tech cohort, eligible-student denominator or branch median. Consequently this guide does not convert those figures into a placement percentage or a typical salary. Ask for a completed batch report separating internships, PPOs, full-time offers and unique students.

COMMON QUESTIONS
DPU Tathawade engineering: FAQs
Is DPU Tathawade the same as DIT Pimpri?
The School of Science & Technology is at Tathawade and belongs to Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, a deemed-to-be university whose name includes Pimpri. The engineering teaching campus covered here is Tathawade. It is distinct from the SPPU-affiliated Institute of Technology at Pimpri, DY Patil College of Engineering at Akurdi and DY Patil International University. The awarding university is DPU, not SPPU.
What first-year fee is shown for B.Tech CSE?
The programme page displays ₹2,50,000 annually and an eligibility fee of 15% of first-year tuition. That gives ₹2,87,500 before application, residence and any other charges. The source also specifies a 3% annual increase; check the written offer for your intake.
Does the internship table establish a B.Tech placement rate?
No. Internship entries are not the same as unique graduates placed in full-time employment. A branch-specific completed-batch report and eligible-student denominator are needed.
Can Campus Mantra issue a DPU admission offer?
No. Campus Mantra is an independent guidance consultancy. Only the institution can confirm eligibility, selection and an official admission offer.
Sources and editorial review
Eligibility and programme/fee evidence rechecked on 13 October 2026; other section-specific sources retain their stated years. Each fee, intake and cutoff retains its own academic year and scope.
